As leaders, we owe it to our teams and organisations, to fight against negativity in these uncertain times. We cannot always control external events, but we most certainly have the power to control our attitude and response to them. Shawn Achor, CEO of Good Think Inc., a Cambridge-based consulting firm which researches positive outliers and author of The Happiness Advantage, sites 12 years of research to support the idea that the brain actually works better if you are happy – you are more productive (by 31%); more creative; sales increase by 37%; doctors are 19% faster and more accurate on correct diagnoses. It sounds obvious but the positive brain performs significantly better than a negative, neutral or stressed brain.
