John C. Maxwell (The 5 Levels of Leadership) believes that the 2 most important qualities in a leader right now during this downturn economy are:
- Creativity – to come up with innovative ideas and solutions; to find the opportunities in unusual situations
- Tenacity – to see them through
This is true for all life. Either one of these on their own is not enough. You have to become innovative in your thinking and then have the staying power to see it through.
I would add flexibilty (to adjust to changing circumstances) and resilience (ability to bounce back from set-backs) to these qualities.
